As you may or may not know, Medicare has come out with a 5-Star Quality Rating System for nursing facilities effective December 18, 2008. Each nursing home will receive a "rating" depending on meeting specific criteria in areas such as:
- results from surveys
- Staffing levels
- Quality measures
As this report indicates, Medicare will rate each nursing facility from 1 to 5 stars, with 5 stars being the highest. We recently received a "5 Star" rating from CMS or more commonly known as Medicare.
Services Details
- Skilled Nursing Services
- Pleasant View Home provides skilled nursing care for those residents whose condition meets Medicare guidelines. A few of the guidelines include, but are not limited to:
- Admission to an acute care setting for at least 3 consecutive midnights
- Requires a skilled service that must be performed by a licensed nurse, Rehabilitation person such as Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Speech Therapist and/or Respiratory Therapist
- Skilled services must be ordered by a physician and that services must be provided at least 5 days a week. This information is substantiated by medical record documentation
- Required TB test prior to admission
- Required medical exam prior to admission
- Required physician admit orders
- If the beneficiary meets qualifying conditions, Medicare will pay 100% of the daily room rate plus covered ancillary services for the first 20 days. Beginning on day 21 through the 100th day, the beneficiary is required to pay a portion of the charges for these days for each benefit period. Supplement insurance often pays this amount. Supplement insurance may also be Medicaid (Title 19).

- Living Wills, Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care, Durable Power of Attorney, and emergency issues of resuscitation are reviewed upon admission. If you have not made that choice, please visit with our Social Service person for clarification and/or assistance
- Completes a personal life history shortly after admission
- Available to speak with resident or family member regarding questions that might arise.
- Housekeeping
- Clean resident rooms on a scheduled basis and as needed
- Services provided on a daily basis
- Using "Green" products
- Laundry
- The laundry department operates approximately 10 hours a day
- Processes all personal laundry items and linens in-house
- Services provided on a daily basis
- Maintenance
- Facility is completely equipped with sprinklers and an up-to-date fire alarm system
- One part-time person keeps the facility in excellent working order.
- Have a backup generator for operation in the case of an emergency
- Restorative Program
- Under the direction of a Registered Nurse and a licensed physical therapist
