Descriptions of Departments
Connie Hansen, RN, Director of Nursing
Nursing: Our experienced nursing staff provides skilled and intermediate care 24 hours per day, seven days per week. A licensed nurse is on duty at all times. There are always physicians on call. Our nursing staff is dedicated to providing quality care. Over 75% of our licensed nurses and over 75% of our certified nursing assistants have worked at Pleasant View Home over five years. Our staff has chosen to work in long term care because we truly enjoy being able to make a difference in improving the lives of our residents.
Pleasant View Home contracts with a number of other individuals and groups who work with us to help ensure and enhance the quality of nursing care our residents receive. Some of these individuals and/or groups currently servicing our residents are:
- Dr. Timothy Daniels, MD, Medical Director from Trimark Family Health Center, Storm Lake. Dr. Daniels makes regular visits here to see residents who are his patients, and he also works with our quality improvement committee.
- Registered Pharmacist, Timothy Mach, Rh.P., from Storm Lake, IA. Tim visits here each month and reviews each resident's medication records and then makes recommendations as needed.
- Sports Rehab and Professional Therapy Associates from Storm Lake supplies us with physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy professionals who work with our residents in our facility as needed.
- Podiatrist, Dr. Mindi Feilmer is from Fort Dodge, IA. Dr. Feilmer visits every 3 months to give foot care to our residents as needed.
- Buena Vista Regional Medical Center Hospice and Pocahontas Community Hospital Hospice groups assist our staff in caring for residents who are experiencing a terminal illness.
- Gwen Suntken RNC, MSN, with Long Term Care Resources visits on a regular basis to also help ensure that our nursing staff is using the most up to date policies and procedures.
Deanna Fales, Certified Dietary Manager
Dietary: Deanna Fales is in charge of the Dietary Department. In 2007, Deanna completed classes to become a Certified Dietary Manager. Marla Smith is our Registered Dietitian, Licensed Dietitian and works closely with her for our daily menus which are planned on a 5 week rotating cycle. Deanna also works closely with our Dietitian for those residents who may have special food needs, and keeps a visual eye on residents with any weight issues. We follow a liberal diet for our residents to meet their needs.
Alison Carlsen, Activity Director
Activities: It is our goal at Pleasant View Home, to provide mentally stimulating, physically challenging, spiritually fulfilling, and socially inviting events to the residents of our home. We work through our activity programming to attain a home-like atmosphere where the residents’ interests continue from their home to our home and where residents continue to be able to lead a productive and happy life. Religious services, Bible study, word games, Bingo, intergenerational programming, music programs, baking, and animal programs are just a few services we offer at Pleasant View Home for all residents. 1:1 are provided to those residents when applicable.
Diane Skog, Housekeeping Supervisor
Housekeeping/Environmental Services: Our department strives of offer a clean, safe, and home-like atmosphere for our residents. The cleanliness and odor control are a top priority at our facility. With the growing concern for a healthier more eco-friendly environment, you will see that we are doing our part by using more "green cleaning products" in our daily cleaning process.
Billie Kuntz, Laundry Supervisor
Laundry: At Pleasant View Home, our first priority is our residents! As a laundry department, we want our residents to look their best; and we do that by making sure they have crisp, clean clothes. In addition, we also launder our bed linens in house. We process 35-40 loads of laundry every day of the week.
Kenny Swenson, Maintenance
Maintenance: Our maintenance staff person works about 4 days a week. Kenny does a wonderful job of keeping us mechanically going…and trying to keep all the women here happy!
Jessica Johnson, Office Manager
Jessica is the person who works with accounts receivable, accounts payable, Medicare, Medicaid, payroll, and many other duties. Should you have a billing question, Jessica is the person to visit with. Jessica has her B.A. in Business Management & Entrepreneurialship.
Edie Erickson, Countryside Living Manager
Edie manages our independent living apartments. She has been the manager for approximately 4 years. Should you want a tour of our lovely apartments, give Edie a call at 712-843-2222 to schedule an appointment time. |
